“Viral” sounds nasty and what does it have to do with marketing?

Although “viral” might remind you of a nasty strain of pneumonia that doesn’t offer much in the way of treatment––when it comes to marketing––you want viral. Viral marketing is a result of an initial campaign spread by potential customers who do the advertising for you so that exposure grows in epidemic proportions.
